With expertise in public procurement and sustainable development, Liesbeth Casier leads IISD's work on sustainable public procurement with the Infrastructure & Finance team. She heads research and advisory work with governments for using public procurement strategically to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals. She also provides training on green and sustainable public procurement.

Additionally, Liesbeth works as Coordinator of the Nature-Based Infrastructure (NBI) Global Resource Centre and previously worked with UN Environment Program.
She holds a master’s degree in development studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Geneva, Switzerland) and a master’s degrees in complementary studies in business economics and in political science, both from the University of Ghent (Belgium), a bachelor of political science from the University of Antwerp (Belgium), and a bachelor of laws from the University of London (United Kingdom).
