Petra Gschiel has been a Senior Budget Expert at the Australian Parliamentary Budget Office since 2014.

She previously served in the Office of Directorate General of Civil Services for 3 years.

She was also an Expert in the Ministry of Finance, responsible for the Austrian Budget Reform in the field of accrual accounting and budgeting, designing and developing training materials and coordinating parts of the reform.

She was the Head of the Finance Department of the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
