نظّم معهد باسل فليحان المالي والاقتصادي ومؤسسة مهارات هذه الطاولة المستديرة لمناقشة دور الإعلام في تعزيز الحَوكمة ودعم مسارات الإصلاح في لبنان.
فبعد مرور عام على تشكيل الحكومة، يواجه لبنان لحظة سياسية مفصلية، حيث غالباً ما تُواجَه جهود الإصلاح بالتضليل الإعلامي، والتلاعب بالمعلومات، وتضارب المصالح. وفي هذا السياق، يصبح ترسيخ نقاش عام قائم على الوقائع والتحليل العلمي أمراً أساسياً لتعزيز الشفافية والمساءلة، ودفع الإصلاحات قُدماً.
ويعمل معهد باسل فليحان ومؤسسة مهارات معاً على بناء شبكة من الصحافيين/ات المتمكنين/ات من المعارف والمهارات والأدوات اللازمة للاضطلاع بدور رقابي فاعل على السياسات العامة ومسارات الإصلاح. ومن خلال برامج التدريب، وبناء القدرات، والزمالات، بات الصحافيون/ات أكثر قدرة على مواجهة المعلومات المضللة، وتحليل القضايا الاقتصادية والمتعلقة بالمالية العامة والحَوكمة المعقّدة، والمساهمة في نقاش عام يستند إلى الأدلة.
جمعت هذه الطاولة المستديرة 16 صحافياً/ة شاركوا في زمالة مدعومة من الصندوق الكندي للمبادرات المحلية (CFLI) بعنوان «تعزيز الصحافة القائمة على الأدلة في قضايا الشفافية المالية والإصلاحات الاقتصادية»، إلى جانب خبراء ومعنيين، وذلك لمناقشة فرص التعاون الاستراتيجي في تعزيز الصحافة المستندة إلى الوقائع بوصفها ركيزة أساسية للحَوكمة والمساءلة.

What opportunities for fact based journalism? Lessons Learnt, Best Practices and Way Forward
The Institute of Finance and Maharat Foundation organized a roundtable discussion on the role of media in advancing governance and reforms in Lebanon.
One year after the Government formation, Lebanon faces a critical political momentum where reform efforts are often challenged by misinformation, media manipulation, and vested interests. Ensuring that public debate is grounded in facts and scientific analysis is essential for fostering transparency, accountability, and meaningful reform.
The Institut and Maharat are working together to build a network of journalists empowered with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to serve as watchdogs of governance and reform. Through training, capacity-building, and fellowships, journalists are better equipped to counter misinformation, analyze complex economic and governance issues, and contribute to evidence-based public discourse.
This roundtable will bring together 16 fellow journalists who took part in a fellowship supported by CFLI entitled “Strengthening evidence based journalism on fiscal transparency and Economic reforms” and experts to discuss opportunities for strategic collaboration in strengthening evidence based journalism as a pillar of governance and accountability.
